6x3 'Space' F.A.T. Mat Gaming Mat
A 6' x 3' Gaming Surface with unique themes Mouse Pad material, a neoprene rubber backing with a water resistant, smooth surface Great for a gaming mat! While other gaming surfaces can be great, they have their limitations. Felt has hairs that catch models while moving and gets dirty easily, cloth creases and is plain, latex mats require painting and tear easily, wood surfaces are heavy, can be expensive and require a lot of work to prepare and paint. Plastic looks great, but dice bounce all over it loudly, it's expensive, you have to paint it, they're difficult to transport and they have seams running across them where the tiles meet. A game mat on a mouse pad would be durable but flexible, light, good looking, easy to use with no preparation needed, and reasonably priced!
The F.A.T. mat comes with a black canvas zipper bag and a F.A.T. tag (luggage tag) with a picture of the mat contained inside.

My family loves this mat. We have a lot of space theme games and this is the perfect mat for all of them. We also use this mat for may other games. The mat rolls out nice on our table and always lays flat.
Pretty Happy with this Mat

I got this to play Star Wars Armada on. The mat is durable, lays flat, and rolls up into a provided zipper bag for convenient storage. I like the star field image on it. It's been a nice upgrade from playing on wood grain.
It cost me $70 after tax and shipping, which feels like the outer limit I would spend.
Great mat. I am very happy with it

I shopped many types of mats before I bought. I was worried this one may be too slippery on top with my armada miniatures. I was very wrong, plenty of grip on top for the inevitable gentle nudges when moving things around. It's like a large mouse pad so the shape is perfect when you unroll it. No need to place heavy things on it to flatten it. I can set a cold drink on it without worrying about the condesantion ruining it. The only thing different is the picture shows square corners. Mine has slightly rounded cut corners. It's very shallow cuts so it doesn't make any actual difference in gameplay, but probably makes it easier to put back in the carrying sleeve.
Good mat for Armada

The mat arrived quickly and in good order. The carrying case looked sharp and I appreciated the tag with it so I could identify it as mine. Mat was correctly sized, rolled out well, laid flat and looked good. Rolling it back up was a bit of a pain, nothing a purchased dowel could not solve.

I'm a Star Wars: Armada player and for over a year had just been playing on a 3x3 space mat that FFG sells under the X-Wing brand. It was time to break into the full 6x3 experience and instead of getting two 3x3 mats I wanted one 6x3. Spent a LONG time looking around the internet. I knew I wanted the mouse pad materials which immediately eliminated a lot of other options. I stumbled upon the F.A.T. mat and honestly was a little put off by the website design, but after coming across an article on Bell of Lost Souls regarding the brand I decided to pull the trigger. I couldn't be happier! The mat is thicker than FFG's mat, the print quality is incredible and I especially the subtle color tones (like greens and pinks) in the stars that add a wonderful variation to the space scene. Also there are no repeating sections of space (at least that I've been able to find) -- the whole mat is a unique scene. The luggage bag is a wonderful addition as well. I just really don't have enough good things to say about this mat. TableWar has my business.
